STORY:

Magic on the shattered islands is an ancient outlawed practice. The punishments include death by drowning, burning, electrocution, freezing, thrown off a large building, thrown off a small build into spikes, execution, ect. A girl named Ember found a strange book full of mystic symbols, and began to learn magic! She was discovered using the forbidden arts, and was sentenced to death. After a desperate plea, she was given one last chance - win in the arena! Can ember survive the arena and prove that she is worthy by killing the final boss?


SETTING:

In this Colosseum-like arena fighter your only goal is to survive and battle through hordes of mindless enemies in efforts to get to the final arena and claim your freedom. 


GAME EXPO: 

This game will be completed and ready for the Florida Polytechnic University Game Exo on April 23th! We are hoping to have an incredible game by then and would love it if you could show your support by voting for our game! We got a few updates for you. The Game Expo is gonna have a ton of different games available to play. Naturally ours is the best, but there should be a few solid games all things considered. We recommend you give all the games a try. :) 

UPDATES:

-We learned a few interesting tips when it comes to code inheritance for game assets. Long story sort the game is on track and should be ready on the 23rd of April. 

-UI has been implemented into the game as of now. 

-The spell system is has basically been completed minus a few small bugs here and there. 

-Completed enemy implementation has had a fair share of problems but should be done by  April 18th. 


GAME MECHANICS:

  • The end goal is to live through each arena and escape. There are 3 arena’s in total.
  • There are enemies that will come out in waves. The enemies goals are simply to kill the player.
  • The player will have a health and mana system. 
  • Once the player’s health hits 0 the player dies and the game is over. 
  • The player has different types of attacks based on the item equipped. 
  • The basic attack of each item is a simple area of effect attack in front of the player that will do minimal damage. 
  • Each round the player stays in the arena the harder the enemies will get. Meaning they will gain health and attack damage. 
  • After each round the player will have a chance to summon the boss or to fight the regular grunts in the arena again. 
  • Each time the player chooses to fight the grunts the enemies will scale to a harder difficulty. 
  • The player can buy new weapons at the end of each wave at a price. They will have a choice at buying a weapon from a grey box, a blue box, a purple box, or an orange box.  The higher the rarity the better the weapon but also the more expensive the cost is. Additionally the weapon received will be random but the rarity of the weapon is guaranteed. 
  • If the player defeats the boss then they will move onto the next arena. 
  • The mana system will correlate to the power of the item used. The stronger the item’s effect the more mana consumed during use. 
  • Mana will recharge overtime at a constant rate. 
  • Health will recharge overtime at a constant rate, however it will be fairly slow. 
  • Enemy scaling occurs only in the current arena once the player leaves that arena the enemy scaling is set back to 0.
